Life for national reunification
A broad spectrum of south Koreans highly eulogize the undying
achievements of peerless great men who had laid the bedrock of Korea’s
independent reunification and great national unity.
In his conversation with the south Korean delegation on May 3,
1972, President Kim Il Sung set
forth the three principles of national reunification the gist of which was
question of Korea’s
reunification should on all accounts be settled independently and peacefully on
the principle of promoting great national unity, a professor of Seoul National
University noted.
On July 4, since the two months later, the South-North Joint
Statement the core of which was independence, peaceful reunification and great
national unity was made public.
The publication of the joint statement was a historic event
that made a breakthrough in the deadlocked inter-Korean relations for decades
and marked a milestone for Korea’s
reunification. It was a landmark event that both north and south of Korea
agreed the reunification principle common to the nation for the first time in
history of national division.
The south Koreans would always remember President Kim Il Sung who handed down the three
principles of national reunification as reunification legacies and undying
achievements of the President performed for national reunification would go
down forever, a reunification champion said at a seminar held in a university
in Daegu.
The imperishable exploits of President Kim Il Sung who dedicated his all to the cause of great national
unity in his lifetime had been carried through by Chairman Kim Jong Il, a pro-reunification body wrote it in its
homepage.
The Chairman, regarding the implementation of the President’s
behests for national reunification as his lifelong cause, did his utmost
endeavors to accomplish the sacred cause of Korea’s reunification.
The Chairman defined the three principles of national
reunification and means set forth by the President as the three charters for
national reunification and provided the Korean nation with the ideo-theoretical
tools for reunification.
“The imperishable
achievements made by President Kim Il
Sung in the history of movement for national reunification will be
immortal,” and “The feats and services performed by Chairman Kim Jong Il who published the historic
declarations and provided a milestone for reunification will be recorded in the
national history.” Some printed matters wrote. These are sentiments of the
south Koreans who remember the brilliant career of the peerless great men who
registered a new chapter for the cause of overall national unity.
“Let us work out the
destiny of the Korean nation through the implementation of the June 15 Joint
Declaration that succeeded to the July 4 Joint Statement,” and “Regard
inter-Korean declarations that embodied the spirit of independence, peaceful
reunification and great national unity as a lifeline of the nation and turn out
in a vigorous drive.”
The exclamations from the celebration meetings marking the July
4 Joint Statement reflected the south Koreans’ faith to sacrifice themselves
for reunification true to patriotic intention of Marshal Kim Jong Un who succeeds to the cause of preceding leaders.
A senior fellow at a human rights institute, in his article
posted on a website, wrote that now the public sentiment is focused on Marshal Kim Jong Un who adheres to Kim Jong Il’s love for the country and
the nation and called for the people to turn out in the movement for
reunification with pride of venerating another peerless patriot.
